Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why "Cedar"?

A: The name Cedar is deeply personal to me. My families roots are in southern Lebanon, where the cedar tree has long stood as a symbol of strength, endurance, and resilience. The cedar tree occupies the center of Lebanon's national flag, symbolizing these principles.

When it came time to name this company, nothing felt more meaningful.

My hope is that every glove carrying the Cedar name reflects those same values: built with purpose, crafted to last, and made to stand the test of time. Those principles continue to guide everything we build, from the materials we choose to the craftsmanship behind every glove.

Q: How should I care for my glove?

A: Taking care of your glove properly will extend its life and maintain its performance. After practice/ games, wipe off excess dirt and grime. When your glove feels dry or looks dry, apply a small amount of glove conditioner and apply evenly. Regarding break in: The most effective way to break it in is through regular use. playing catch, hand forming the glove and shaping the pocket with a mallet. When not in use, store it somewhere safe where it won’t lose its form.

Avoid the following:

• Steaming, which can dry out and weaken the leather and laces

• Over-applying oil, as it can darken and weigh down the glove

• Exposing the glove to heat (ovens, microwaves, etc.)

⸻

Q: What type of leather is used in the fielding gloves?

A: Cedar Athletics gloves are built using premium steerhide leather throughout, including only premium quality internals/ padding. Steerhide is chosen for its durability and structure, allowing the glove to maintain its shape over time and outperform softer leathers like kip in long-term use.

⸻

Q: Which size glove should I choose?

A: While sizing guidelines can be helpful, comfort and personal preference should always come first. Use this as a general reference when selecting your glove:

• Second Base & Shortstop: 11.25” – 11.50”

• Third Base: 11.50” – 12.00”

• Pitcher: 11.50” – 12.00”

• Outfield: 12.25” – 12.75”

This can be easily molded back to stock factory form with a slight bend. They are not overly stiff, but they are built to be shaped/ broken in by the player.
